Martha is a rock-star. As I’ve said in life—results speak for themselves.
Martha was hired to sell my home in La Jolla. She went above and beyond in every category, and I credit Martha
with selling my home for top dollar—basically two weeks into the Covid crisis--in early April 2020.
Martha used her resources at Sotheby’s to bring in the very top furniture designers and photographers, and
transformed the otherwise unimpressive interior into a gorgeous coastal beach home.
Martha is the hardest worker I know, and also the most reliable. She will do anything to protect and escalate the
home’s value.
For example, one evening in mid-March 2020, I was staying south of SD when I experienced a torrential
downpour in the middle of the night. I remembered that there was a potential leak to address. I called Martha
around 1am in the middle of the night, and she didn’t hesitate to run over to the home (in torrential downpour at
1am) with towels. She made sure the home stayed perfect!
In another example, Martha worked hard to get the home the maximum exposure, with the plan of getting
competing bids in the first week. She succeeded in doing so, and skillfully negotiated with each buyer to achieve
the very highest offer.
Most importantly, when the buyer asked for major concessions and provided estimates of the costs of work to
get done, Martha actually did the due-diligence to examine the invoices closely—and discovered that many of the
invoices had fabricated (and inflated) numbers. She did this by actually making phone calls to the handymen/etc
whose costs had been represented. Many of them said—we didn’t give that quote.
Martha didn’t insult or lose the buyer, while at the same time holding firm that we would not be granting those
concessions. Most realtors do not do that level of due diligence. I’ve heard of some that just want to get the deal done, and
OK such concessions, but Martha refused and stayed resolute on our price. Incredible.
I have very good friends in Escondido who had gone through two of the best realtors in that area, who had all
failed to sell their home. My friends were worried about it being on the market for a third time. I recommended
and endorsed Martha whole-heartedly with them as I’m doing now, and they went with Martha.
Obviously, there’s relationship risk to make that kind of referral, if it’s a crash and burn. But as I said—I had zero
reservations.
